Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR BIDS, QUOTES OR PROPOSALS. At this time, no solicitation exists. This notification is being posted for information purposes only.

This procurement action is for the purchase of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spare part as described below:

MAP3781 - Harmonic Drive Gear Assembly, KBA P/N L7080953, KBA Proprietary. For Form Roller Circumferential Register On SOI III

The spare part required above is manufactured and is proprietary to Koenig & Bauer (K&B). There are no other sources that are capable of supplying the required OEM spare part other than K&B. Additionally, K&B possesses the technical knowledge and expertise to manufacture the above spare part since K&B is the manufacturer of the SOI III equipment used by BEP. BEP does not possess the required capabilities in terms of labor, machinery or materials to manufacture these items. Therefore, the Government has determined that this procurement can only be acquired from the OEM contractor, K&B.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to sole-source this requirement and award to K&B. The applicable North American Classification Code (NAICS) is 333248, All Other Industrial Machinery Manufacturing.

This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes. If you feel your firm can provide the required spare part listed above, please submit a capability statement no later than Friday, 6 December 2024, 3:00PM (EST). The decision not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
