Notice of Intent to Award a Non-Competitive Negotiated Contract for the Purchase of Four (4) Hi-Rail Wheels and Associated Hardware for Use on a John Deere 180CW Hi-Rail Excavator

Project Description: The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) is a Government Transportation Special District within the State of California that owns, maintains, and operates passenger rail service and freight rail service in Sonoma County and Marin County within the State of California. SMART is issuing this Notice of Intent to award a non-competitive, negotiated purchase order to Rail Construction Equipment Co. for the purchase of replacement wheels and associated hardware components of hi-rail equipment upfitted on a John Deere 180C Excavator. It is SMART’s understanding that Rail Construction Equipment Co. is the only authorized provider and/or dealer able to provide these parts.
If upon review of this Notice, vendors or suppliers determine that they can legally supply these parts to SMART, SMART requests that those vendors or suppliers submit a response to this Notice of Intent. Any responses received shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement rather than proceeding with this sole-source negotiated contract. This notice is not a request for competitive bids or proposals. Responses received will not be considered as bids, quotes, or proposals.
