Camp Butner Training Center - Cantonment Site Grading
Engineering/Architecture
The objectives of this project are to (1) improve safety of an
intersection between a Camp Butner owned gravel road and the
public Roberts Chapel Road and (2) set conditions for cantonment
area development with a utility corridor, increased parking, and
prepared building sites.
The intersection safety will be improved by realigning two
driveways, requiring demolition and new construction of
approximately 800 LF of gravel road. Will require demolition and
construction of ditches, earthen berms, sidewalks and gates. New
intersection will incorporate pedestrian crossing with signage and
area lighting. Exact location to be determined by review of existing
conditions and further development of immediate area master plan.
Setting conditions for cantonment area development includes re-
aligning utilities along the new gravel roadway, ensuring adequate
and ready availability of water, sewer, electrical and
communications for future connections. All utilities are available
within the project site; however, location and capacity planning will
be required. Site work also includes addition of approximately
20,000 SF of gravel parking area and four (4) building pads for
future buildings (2 x 2,000 SF and 2 x 5,000 SF).
