The Air Force Packaging and Engineering Facility (AFPTEF) was tasked to
develop the Gray Eagle Rapid Transport System ("trailer") for expeditionary ops of
USSOCOM MQ-1C ER aircraft, and it is currently tasked to fabricate two more of them. The
trailer requires a coupled screw jack system, which consists of one "left" / "right" pair of 5-
ton, stainless steel screw jacks, to enable landing gear retraction at the trip origin and landing
gear extension at the destination. The jack screw is an open market item, made-to-order and
configured for the trailer. Likewise, the trailer has been designed to interface with this specific
screw jack.
