MPEX Diagnostic Residual Gas Analyzer (DRGA) Skid
The Material-Plasma Exposure eXperiment (MPEX), a superconducting magnet, steady-state device, is being built at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), herein referred to as "ORNL", to address the harsh conditions inside a fusion reactor. This device, as designed, will have the unique feature of being able to conduct accelerated lifetime tests of plasma-facing components, including those that have experienced neutron damage.
The MPEX Diagnostic Residual Gas Analyzer (DRGA) Subsystem consists of one DRGA skid consisting of two (2) turbomolecular pumps, one (1) scroll pump, a Hiden DLS-1 quadrupole mass spectrometer (QMS), a Gencoa Optix optical emission spectrometer (OES), valves, pipes, and instrumentation and controls (I&C). The DRGA skid is located on the MPEX device to provide real-time diagnostic information during MPEX operations. The DRGA skid and associated components are part of the Diagnostic Subsystem.
