|
Synopsis:
|
|
This Request for Proposal (RFP) is an invitation by the Government of Saskatchewan (GOS) to prospective Proponents to provide Submissions for the provision of services to monitor and assess forest insects and diseases in Saskatchewan, as further described in the RFP Particulars (Appendix A).
Forest health management activities in Saskatchewan fall within the mandate of the Forest Service Branch of the Ministry of Environment (ENV). All activities are aligned with ENV’s guiding principles and vision and focus on the goals and objectives governing ENV’s strategic direction. ENV endorses the concept of Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM), recognizing that sustainable forest use requires the balance and integration of ecological values with economic and social values.
The expected outcomes of this competition are:
•Effective monitoring of forest disturbances;
•High quality data;
•Improving on monitoring surveys by embracing new technologies; and
•Professional level support to the overall provincial forest health program.
