The Minnesota Department of Transportation to purchase an PPG Delta LTL-3000 base handheld, battery operated unit which measures nighttime visibility (RL) of pavement markers

The unit verifies contractor striping meets reflectivity standards & specifications of requirements set forth by MNDOT to ensure striping contractors are within required compliance. Per MnDOT’s Traffic Engineering public website, the pavement marking is part of a communication system for road users – in addition to signs and signals, pavement markings communicate to drivers where to position their vehicles, warn about upcoming conditions, and indicate where passing is allowed. To ensure streamlining maintenance operations, this equipment is the only handheld equipment MnDOT staff in the district is trained on, has training guidelines for, and is within Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.
