Project Limits: East side of Putnam Township in Livingston County (The Putnam Township line is about 0.25 miles east of Farley Road) to West end is the start of the maintained area of the Jackson State Prison in Blackman Township in Jackson County (The West limit on mowing is in Blackman Twp approximately 1.5 miles SW of Dalton Rd). Approximately 29.2 miles Brushing: Trim back overgrowth of brush and low hanging limbs along both sides of the trail and overhead for safe passage of hikers, bikers, equestrians, emergency and maintenance vehicles One time annually in the fall between September 15th - September 30th Oak trees will not be cut from April 15 to July 15 due to Oak Wilt Trim brush to a height of 12 feet. Keep the mature trees in order to give the umbrella effect for beauty and shade where possible. (See figure 12) Cut back existing brush along trail edges a minimum of five feet to allow for mowing equipment to pass through and to keep brush back off trail. (See figure 12) Clear sight lines at intersections will be established and maintained. Blow debris off trail surface and two foot shoulders Contractor will notify program manager at least 24 hours prior to any brushing/mowing. Brushing Equipment: Tractor with loader mounted hydraulic offset cutter used to trim back high brush and cut limbs hanging down Offset brush cutter cutting from trail edge five to 10 feet, cutting and grinding up brush that the loader mounted cutter cuts and drops to the ground Chain-saw and pole-saw cutting ahead of tractor Leaf blower Equipment stored overnight on trail property will need permission from the program manager. Mow five feet from the edge of trail surface Weed whip around all benches, signs, fences, porta-johns, etc. within five feet of the trail edge Clear sight lines at intersections will be established and maintained Mowing Equipment: Tractor with a boom mower with the ability to cut five feet while staying on the hard packed trail without cutting ruts along trail Weed whip to trim around signs, markers, and any benches - Excluding signs on prison property posted "Prison Property No Trespassing" Chain saw to cut any fallen trees which may inhibit mowing Equipment stored overnight on trail property will need permission from the program manager.
