Sole Source determination is based on the need to renew MathWorks MATLAB software licenses and maintenance support needed by the Gaithersburg and Boulder Campuses.

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) use MathWorks’ MATLAB and related Toolbox products to provide computation, visualization, and programming in support of NIST's mission. MathWorks, Inc., is the only known vendor capable of providing the software licenses and maintenance support.
