Place of Performance:
The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of various members of industry, to include the Small Business Community: Small Business, Section 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUB-Zone), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB). The Government must ensure there is adequate competition among the potential pool of responsible contractors. Small business, Section 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, & EDWOSB businesses are highly encouraged to participate.

Objective: To find sources that are qualified to meet the supplies/services as listed below. Note that the specific requirements are subject to change prior to the release of any solicitation.
The USGS - Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center (the Center) needs to acquire an integrated sensor package (multi-sensor core logger) to non-destructively image and measure sediment properties in whole-round or split sediment cores.
Specifications/Salient Characteristics: We are seeking brand name or equal to Geotek Standard Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL-S)
The following salient characteristics are required:
• Fully automated track system capable of precise movement of 1.5 m and greater length core sections
• Integrated tracking, sensor operation, data recording, and processing electronics/computer suite, including all necessary peripherals and manuals
• Bartington 130 mm MS2C loop (whole round cores) and M2E point (split cores) sensors
• 137-Cs gamma source and associated density measurement system
• Compressional (P) wave velocity measurement system, including core thickness sensor for use on whole round and split cores
• Geoscan (or comparable) linescan imaging system (imager and light source) for split cores
• Handheld (integrated operation) XRF sensor capable of calibrated quantitative and qualitative counts-per-second analysis of a broad range of elements (light and heavy)
• Natural gamma sensor system (detectors plus shields)
• Appropriate calibration materials for routine verification of sensor and system performance and quality control
• System-installed shielding and access controls for system operation and ionizing radiation sources
• Software (or software licenses) for off instrument data processing
• Appropriate documentation to facilitate radiation licensing
• US compatible electrical system
• On-site (Woods Hole, MA, USA) installation and operator training
• Shipping and handling (including customs clearance if appropriate)
