The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is seeking to gauge industry on designing, manufacturing, and furnishing one (1) fully equipped 40-42ft aluminum landing craft workboat with transport trailer. The landing craft workboat will provide transportation of wildlife habitat equipment, tools, personnel, and plants (tractor, drill-seeder, bailer, harrow) to boat access only habitat management units (HMUs).
This sources-sought notice is a tool to identify businesses with the interest in and capability to accomplish the work. Please respond only if you intend to propose on this project when it is solicited in the future. This is not a solicitation.
Basic Configuration:
12-13ft beam in a cathedral hull configuration.
The maximum fully equipped weight of the “lightship” vessel shall not exceed 22,000lbs.
The transport trailer shall have a minimum rating of 30,000lb GVWR and satisfy all WA DOT standards when loaded with a fully equipped vessel.
capable of safely transporting 10,000lbs of equipment at planning speeds.
At a minimum the bow door shall be 108” wide.
The bow door and/or ramp system shall have a minimum 5,000 PSI load rating with the door landed.
The minimum cargo deck size shall be 10ft wide x 25ft long.
The boat shall be designed for maximum stability when loaded.
The boat shall be equipped with a minimum of ten (10) tie down anchor location located on the deck floor designed to secure heavy equipment.
The boat shall come equipped with two (2) naturally aspirated 4 stroke outboard engines. Each engine shall have a minimum HP rating of 450HP.
The twin engines configuration shall be capable of planning the boat when fully load with 10,000lbs at a minimum speed of 20 MPH.
It is the bidder’s responsibility to ensure the hull, drive system, engine sizes, and propellers are matched correctly to ensure the stability of the vessel while transporting the maximum rated load.
All components shall be sized and designed to transport heavy loads efficiently as possible.
The gooseneck trailer shall be configured to distribute a tongue weight between 15%-20% of the gross vehicle weight of the combined trailer and boat.
The Boat and trailer shall arrive fully equipped and preconfigured with all optional equipment, requiring no additional labor from the Government.
All lockable compartments shall be keyed alike.
USACE is offering industry the opportunity to provide written feedback regarding a landing craft workboat as defined above:

- A statement of qualification and capability to perform this requirement.
- Are there any specific specifications that the company anticipates may be challenging to meet within the schedule requirements?
- Identify and explain potential challenges and any proposed alternative approaches the Government should consider.
- When would design efforts need to start to support delivery of the landing craft by July 2027?
- Provide cost reduction opportunities the Government should consider based on the specifications provided.
