WSB is interested in Legal Services for Workforce Solutions Board of Directors and staff. The Respondent has or will obtain the means and personnel necessary to effectively implement the goals and objectives of the scope of work to ensure compliance of the services being requested.
The Respondent will provide legal advice, counsel, and issue legal opinions on general, administrative and statutory matters to WSB’s Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors and senior management staff but not limited to: general nonprofit law, labor law, state and federal laws relating to grant and contract issues, open records issues, property/real estate law, contract and procurement regulations.
Moreover, general counsel will be available for consultation during Board of Director meetings, Executive Committee Meetings and attend public hearings, as requested by WSB's authorized representatives. Respondent will monitor and report on legislative actions affecting the WSB at the local, state, and federal levels and on the recent case law and attorney general opinions affecting WSB. Respondent may also be called upon to provide representation at administrative hearings before governmental agencies.
In the employment law area, Respondent should have knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), due process requirements; whistleblower statutes, discrimination laws, and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Workforce Board of Directors meets approximately six times each year, plus approximately five subcommittee meetings throughout the year, as required. Ordinarily, meetings will be held at 304 Texas Ave., El Paso, Texas 79901.
