The northern shoreline of Lake Parker, located in the City of Lakeland within Polk County, at Latitude/Longitude (28.0855, -81.9425), has the potential for habitat restoration, including the promotion of beneficial submerged aquatic vegetation, emergent aquatic vegetation, and forested vegetation plantings and management. Historically, the Project shoreline was altered due to mining activities, which are estimated to have occurred between 1958 and 1968. The effects of mining activities have resulted in steep topographic shoreline grades in various areas, with a minimal extent of littoral and aquatic vegetation. The Project was also created to facilitate the establishment of beneficial vegetation to improve water quality in the project area by re-establishing topographic contours along the northern shoreline of Lake Parker.
