Laborer

The City of South Amboy is seeking to fill a vacant position for LABORER.  This is an entry level position that reports to the Department of Public Works.  Under supervision, performs varied types of manual and unskilled laboring work, may drive a truck in connection with laboring work on occasion, does other related duties as required.  Main area of focus will be custodial including office cleaning and light mechanical work in city buildings.  Examples of work include but are not limited to the following: loads, lifts, moves supplies, furniture, and equipment, trash collection, cutting grass and trimming hedges, loading and unloading trucks, shoveling snow, tree trimming, minor street repairs and custodial work and office cleaning.  Laborers will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey to perform essential duties of the position and may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicle being operated.  If interested, please complete and submit employment application found on the Clerks’ page of the City of South Amboy web page.  Employment applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s office by 8/28/2025.
