Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a lump sum contract are invited for the following work:
Contractor shall renovate the interior of Knudsen Hall, a nine story 92,893 asf (164,702 gsf) lab and office building (including two basement levels and one rooftop level) constructed in 1963, to construct a Quantum Physics Research Lab. This proposed project involves renovations to Rooms 1210, 2208, 2216, and 2222 on the first and second floors, which comprise approximately 2,300 (2,545 gsf) of academic space, to create new lab uses including a measurement room, an optics lab, a packaging room, and a cleanroom with gowning and support areas. This will also require the installation of an acoustic enclosure in room 1226. A general demolition of the project area has been completed, and the space is ready for new construction. The project scope includes upgrades to the building’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to address the lab’s power and process chilled water requirements, and upgrades to the fire and life safety systems. These improvements complement the previously approved Phase 1 renovation of Rooms 1216 and 1226 (Project No. 940023) to complete the Quantum Physics Research Lab.
