Description:

The Town of Amherst, Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from prequalified General Contractors and filed sub bidders for the renovation and addition of the historic Jones Library in Amherst, MA in accordance with the documents prepared by Finegold Alexander Architects. The original 1927 building will be renovated, an addition constructed in the 1990s will be removed and a new addition will be constructed for a 63,000 SF facility once completed.

Qualifications:

General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work -- General Building Construction and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime Update Statement. General Bids will be received until October 31, 2024 at 2:00pm and publicly opened, forthwith online.

Filed Sub-bids for the following trades (Masonry; Miscellaneous and Ornamental Iron; Waterproofing Damp proofing and Caulking; Roofing and Flashing; Metal Windows; Glass and Glazing; Lathing and Plastering; Tile; Acoustical Tile; Resilient Floors; Painting; Elevators; Fire Protection Sprinkler System; Plumbing; HVAC; and Electrical) will be received until October 17, 2024 at 2:00pm and publicly opened, forthwith online. Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified for the trades listed and bidders must include a current DCAMM Sub-Bidder Certificate of Eligibility and a signed DCAMM Sub-Bidder’s Update Statement.

Special Requirements:

Only Bids from Prequalified General and Filed Sub-bidders, with the exception of the Elevator trade, will be accepted. DCAMM Certified Elevator contractors may submit sub-bids.

Miscellaneous:

All Bids shall be submitted electronically online at www.biddocsonline.com and received no later than the date and time specified above.

An optional Pre-Bid Conference and site visit will be held on October 2, 2024 at 9:00am at the existing Jones Library, 43 Amity Street, Amherst, MA 01002.
