Jail Janitorial Services

The Haines Borough seeks proposals from qualified individuals or firms to offer janitorial service for the jail located at the Haines Borough Police Department. Services will be required on an as-needed basis, approximately forty times per year. Proposals must specify per-cleaning rate and clearly show that the respondent has the ability to meet the Scope of Work below.  A successful criminal background check and a borough business license will be required before contract award.

The proposal deadline is 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026, or thereafter until an award is made.
Any submissions after the deadline will be considered only if no timely and viable proposals were received.

The Borough Manager and Borough Clerk shall review all written proposals. Based on qualifications, compliance with the RFP requirements, and the bid amount, a bidder will be selected.

Scope of Work: The job consists of cleaning an individual cell after it has been vacated. At no time will the janitor be in the jail area while a prisoner is being housed. The jail booking area and shower area are included with the cell cleaning. Cleaning consists mainly of mopping and wiping down surfaces with a disinfectant cleaner. Services may require the removal and cleaning of bodily fluids.
