Situation (What is the current situation creating the need for this contract?)
The existing general exhaust fan #2 has failed.
Background (Provide details of the contract requirement and impact if not approved)
General Exhaust Fan #2 removes exhaust air in the center of Bldg 1 from the basement to 6th floor. The requirement consists of demolition and removal of the existing exhaust fan, provision and installation of a new exhaust fan system (21,160 CFM at 2 static pressure), integration into the Building Automation System, electrical and control wiring, air balancing, and associated testing. This situation impacts the facility's ventilation and further delay will have a negative impact on patient care and facility operations.
Assessment (Include alternative courses of action that can be considered)
To resolve this issue, a new general exhaust fan needs to be installed. The existing unit cannot be salvaged or repaired as the damage is too significant.
