113-26 ITS Utility Locating

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), through its Central Office of Traffic Operations, currently does not possess the internal capacity to manage locate requests submitted via Ohio811, nor to perform the marking of its underground utility facilities. As such, ODOT is seeking to engage a qualified professional services vendor to provide underground utility locating services specific to its Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure.
These services are critical to ensuring the accurate identification and marking of underground utilities in full compliance with the regulatory requirements established by the State of Ohio.
ODOT’s Traffic Operations oversees a statewide network of more than 1,500 ITS sites, which includes over 323 miles of fiber optic cable. The ITS infrastructure encompasses a wide range of field devices, including but not limited to: closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, dynamic message signs (DMS), queue warning systems, variable speed limit signs, and truck parking availability systems. A portion of these assets may be viewed via publicly accessible websites by enabling the appropriate device or asset layers.
