THE CITY OF HAMPTON IS SEEKING BIDS FROM QUALIFIED BIDDERS TO ESTABLISH A CONTRACT FOR THE PROVISION OF TOWING CITY OWNED AND OPERATED VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS.

Qualifications:

Both light and heavy tow trucks drivers shall have documentation showing they have passed the Virginia State Police background check, and meet all the necessary requirements to be registered with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) which is mandatory by Virginia State law.

Light duty tow truck drivers shall meet and maintain all required Virginia State requirements for towing any vehicle the weighs up to 10,000 lbs. Medium Truck, and Heavy Truck tow truck drivers shall meet and maintain all Virginia State requirements for towing any vehicle and/or equipment weighing over 10,000 lbs, and maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) license with the proper endorsements for what is being towed. Federal law under the United States Department of Transportation requires a commercial driver’s license (CDL) for towing anything more than 26,000 lbs.
