Fairfax County is soliciting pre-bid qualification applications for the construction of the Backlick Road at Industrial Road Spot Improvement project. The Backlick Road at Industrial Road Spot Improvement project was originated to improve the congestion and safety of the intersection at Backlick Road and Industrial Road by adding an exclusive northbound left turn lane and to construct the missing link of approximately 1250 feet of sidewalk on the east side of Backlick Road and south and north side of Industrial Road.The project also includes the following improvements:⢠400 feet of Guiderails ⢠420 linear feet of retaining wall. ⢠New signal equipment at Wimsatt Road includes pole, mast arm, signal control box, signage and replacing loop detectors at the intersection of Backlick Road and Wimsatt Road. ⢠Traffic signal modification at the intersection of Backlick Road and Industrial Road including replacement of mast arm, signage and replacing loop detectors.⢠Underground detention pipesThe project also includes lighting, asphalt paving, concrete curb & gutters, erosion control and signage. The construction cost for this project is estimated to be between $5.5 million to $7 million.The anticipated date for the Construction Authorization is estimated to be winter 2026 and the Substantial Completion date is estimated to be summer 2027. These are estimated dates and durations and are subject to change.Only firms that have been pre-qualified are eligible to submit bids for this project. Bids received from those who have not been pre-qualified will not be considered. This is a UNIT price Contract.
