Defense Language Institute or Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) requires library specific furniture to make the vison we have been working on the past five years into reality. We hope to add the following items. 64 total tables; including round, occasional, standing, computer, flip-top, square, charging station tables that allow both standing and sitting, and a new circulation desk. 49 lounge chairs including arm and armless chairs and comfortable round chairs. 44 task chairs, which will be use at the computer tables. 36 stacking chairs, which will be used in the 3 study rooms and conference room. 48 end panels that will be used at the ends of each bookshelf for our collection. 4 media stations that will allow teachers to utilize the space for classes, or other faculty that want to hold breakout sessions for seminars. 8 room dividers that can be used throughout the library to create more of a quiet space when media stations are being used and for other areas if more privacy is needed or it is too loud. 40 diner style booths with tables for one and two people. 58 wood chairs with cushion on the back and seat and covered with vinyl for durability. This also includes 18 bar stool height wood chairs.
Aiso Library is adding new furniture to create a more comfortable study environment. The last updates the library has gone through was for the installation of network cables to install computers and to build the mezzanine in 2005. That is almost 40 years with the same furniture throughout the library. This modernization is needed for the students to feel more comfortable studying in the library, in a relaxed and calming setting. The purchase of new library furniture will lead to multiple types of study spaces for the students on both levels of the library. It will allow for individual study space, as well as group and classroom environments within the library. New library furniture will create various types of study environments for the DLIFLC students. At this time, Aiso Library is the only space on POM that students of all military branches and both sexes can co-mingle outside of their classrooms
