Intent to Award Sole Source

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR BIDS, QUOTES OR PROPOSALS. At this time no solicitation exists. This notification is being posted for information purposes only.

This procurement action is for the acquisition of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spare parts for BEP Press equipment used for currency manufacturing. The required spare parts are described below:

BEP Item # MAP5413 - Traction Rope, Red, Buhler P/N SDW -80064-030.

BEP Item # ELP3513 - Motor, Three-Phase, Buhler P/N UXM -60001-769, 1.1kW IE3 IP55 F 90

BEP Item # ELP3514 - Valve, Solenoid, Buhler P/N UNS -17000-050, 4/2-Way, 24VDC UL

BEP Item # MAP5409 - Level Control Unit, Ultrasonic, Buhler P/N SDVE-11194-001

All spare parts listed above are manufactured and are proprietary to Buhler Group. There are no other sources that are capable of supplying the required OEM spare parts other than Buhler Group. BEP does not possess the required capabilities in terms of labor, machinery or materials to produce these items. Therefore, the Government has determined that this procurement can only be acquired from the OEM contractor, Buhler Group.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to sole-source this requirement and award to Buhler Group. The applicable North American Classification Code (NAICS) is 333248, All Other Industrial Machinery Manufacturing.

This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes. If you feel your firm can provide all the spare parts listed above, please submit a capability statement by 4:00PM EDT, December 6, 2024. The decision not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
