Project Description

This project will install approximately 15,100 linear feet of 36-inch water main from the IH10 water station near the intersection of IH10 and La Cantera Parkway following the IH10 corridor north to a tie-in point east of the intersection with Heuermann Rd. Approximately 6,000 feet of that will be installed via trenchless methods to minimize impacts to the community. This project is part of a multi-phased effort to improve pressure and reliability of water delivery to this rapidly developing area.

When Will Work Occur?

Project is scheduled to advertise in 4th quarter of 2025 . Construction is currently scheduled to begin in the 1 ^st quarter of 2026 . The estimated construction duration is 32 months and the estimated construction cost is $32 million.

What to Expect

Open cut installation of approximately 9,100LF of water transmission main up to 36-inch in diameter at depths up to 35 feet.
Trenchless installation of approximately 6,000LF of water transmission main up to 36-inch in diameter at depths up to 35 feet
Project includes installation of a cathodic protection system and associated pipe connections and appurtenances.
The solicitation via RFCSP will seek respondents with experience installing large diameter steel pipe for use as water transmission main.

RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS

1. Question: Could ductile iron be added to the list of approved pipe material?

Response: The 36-inch transmission main for the project will be steel pipe.

There is a portion of the branch distribution main which calls for a small amount of DI pipe

on the project. All pipe and related materials utilized in the design must be listed in the

Approved Products List found at the following link:

Interested suppliers may also access a Product Submittal Application to submit their specific

product(s) to SAWS’ Products Standards Committee for evaluation if it is not already in the

Since this project is already under design, it is unlikely that an alternate pipe supplier’s

product would be utilized as part of this project.
