Rapidan Raw Water Pump Station Intake Screen Replacement

This Addendum is issued in accordance with the IFB Terms & Conditions and is intended to provide
additional information and clarification to Respondents.
This Addendum consists of three (3) items which are listed below and is an integral part of the IFB to which
it is attached, and is incorporated therein and made part thereof by this reference.
Item 1 – Changes To IFB
1. Remove Section 35 53 13 Paragraph 3.06.C from Attachment J – Technical Specifications in its
entirety.
Item 2 – Questions and Answers
1. Will timber stop logs be in place? Drawing PSS7.
ANSWER: The current presence of timber stop logs is unknown and should not be relied upon
for purposes of bidding.
2. Can a mudline elevation outside of the offshore wall of the vault be provided?
ANSWER: The exact elevation is unknown; however, bidders can assume river bottom is less
than elevation 136.00 (top of intake wall).
3. Can you consider adding a Mobilization and Demobilization line item to the bid form?
ANSWER: A separate bid item will not be added to bid form; however, Contractor may include
mobilization and demobilization in the Schedule of Values to be approved by Owner and
Engineer. Refer to IFB Article 10.4 and Section 01 29 73 for specific requirements.

4. Please confirm whether equipment setup is permitted on the concrete intake structure.
ANSWER: The Intake structure top slab is designed for 100 psf live load as indicated in
Appendix B Sheet PSS1. Load on intake structure shall not exceed design capacity.
5. If permitted, please provide the allowable load capacity of the concrete intake structure, including
any applicable load distribution requirements.
ANSWER: Intake structure top slab is designed for 100 psf live load as indicated in Appendix B
Sheet PSS1.
6. Please confirm whether equipment setup is permitted on the highlighted area on the below
drawing.
ANSWER: The Intake structure top slab is designed for 100 psf live load as indicated in
Appendix B Sheet PSS1. Load on intake structure shall not exceed design capacity. The paved
access road adjacent to the intake structure may be used for equipment setup; however,
Contractor shall be responsible for taking all precautions necessary to protect property and shall
be responsible for restoration of any damaged property as indicated in Section 01 71 33.
7. Elgin Separation Solutions as an equal product.
ANSWER: Acceptable if Contractor can meet all other project requirements including schedule.
8. Johnson Screens as an equal product.
ANSWER: Acceptable if Contractor can meet all other project requirements including schedule.
9. Is there a construction cost estimate or budget associated with the project?
ANSWER: Please see the County’s CIP budget.
10. Section 35 53 13-7, Paragraph 3.06 Disinfection – Please clarify the applicability of the cleaning
requirements for divers and diving equipment working in the river, prior to any processing and
with an intake system that is presumably tagged out. Do these procedures apply to these diving
operations?
ANSWER: Cleaning of equipment to be used in the river is required, but disinfection is not
required. Please see Item 1 of this Addendum.
11. Are there any ground pressure restrictions on the concrete surface highlighted below that would
limit or otherwise restrict placement of material handling equipment in this area?
ANSWER: Intake structure top slab is designed for 100 psf live load as indicated in Appendix B
Sheet PSS1.

12. Is there a specific number of callback trips anticipated over the prescribed post-installation period
that we are required to price, or is a day rate for return services during this period sufficient?
ANSWER: Refer to Section 46 21 56 Paragraph 1.05 and 3.04 for manufacturer field
requirements.
