A. General Specifications:
Mattresses must be 100% sealed with no stitching (preferred) or sewn with inverted seams inside the mattress with minimally 6-8 stitches per inch. A pillow must be integrated into the mattress (excludes mattresses for line item #2, #4 and #6 on the quotation sheet). Mattresses must be of durable construction guaranteed against cracking and delaminating, fire-retardant and fluid resistant. A 100% replacement guarantee must be offered for flaws, tears, cracking and other deterioration that would not be expected under normal use. Labeling of completed mattress must comply with applicable state and federal standards.
B. Mattress Core:
The core must be 3.5 to 4.5 inches thick for jail cell bunk beds. The core must be constructed of polyester fiber with no chemicals added. Core materials for hospital bed must be a fire-resistant polychloroprene or similar foam compound with no pillow. The foam core for medical mattresses must be 4 inches thick. All mattress cores must protect against fluids and contamination, such as blood-borne pathogens, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and head lice. The cores and covers must be bacteria resistant, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial that can be cleaned and disinfected. The core and cover must meet or exceed flammability requirements of 16 CFR Part 1632 and 1633 and follow the California Technical Bulletin 117 and California Technical Bulletin 603 standards.
