Description
Project Description: The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) is a Special District within the State of California that owns, maintains, and operates passenger rail service in Sonoma County and Marin County. In addition to passenger rail service, SMART is a common carrier that owns and operates freight rail services within Sonoma County, Marin County, and Napa County.
SMART is seeking Proposals from qualified and experienced firms that are well-versed in Maximo® configurations, business logic, escalations, workflows, BIRT report writing, and in advising comparable public agencies in asset management to manage SMART’s Maximo® software licensing program, including supplying SMART with annual renewal licenses, performing monitoring and regular system maintenance and technical support services, and provide on-call additional development, configuration, and advisory support services for SMART’s existing IBM Maximo® system.
SMART uses IBM Maximo® Maintenance Management System (“Maximo®”) as it’s official inventory system-of-record and asset management system for both fixed and mobile assets. Additionally, Maximo® is used to track maintenance (e.g. Work Orders), labor, parts, consumables, operator logs, IT service requests, and certain procurement process tasks related to operations purchasing. Finally, Maximo® reporting generated from the system is used to influence asset management decision making.
The awarded Consultant will serve a critical role to ensure SMART’s inventory and maintenance management system remains functional, reliable, efficient, secure, and accessible for SMART staff at all times. Additionally, the Consultant shall serve as a technical advisor to assist SMART staff with identifying and implementing process and system improvements for stakeholders of the system, including but not limited to the inventory, finance, vehicle maintenance, operations, track, and facilities teams. SMART desires a Consultant that is flexible and responsive to the needs of various levels of users at the agency.
This contract has a 3-year base term with (2) one-year options to extend thereafter.
This Agreement may be funded using State or Local Funds.
The deadline to submit a Proposal in response is April 10, 2026 by 2:00 PM (Pacific).
