1 INTENDED PURPOSE AND APPLICATION / SCOPE OF WORK
The High-Resolution Respirometry equipment described in this bid will be used to measure
mitochondrial respiration in whole tissue samples such as muscle, liver, ovary, and other tissues as
needed to support research objectives largely related to stress, toxicants, and pathology.
2 EVALUATION CRITERIA
The evaluation criteria utilized for this RFP may be based upon, but not limited to the following criteria:
Ability to meet or exceed the specifications
Total cost
Installation and training offered
Lead Time
Warranty
Customer service offered
ISU reserves the right to waive minor differences in the stated specifications, if an offered system is found to be
substantially compliant, and its’ purchase would be in the University’s best interest.
Proposal Process and Ev aluation. The proposal process employed by ISU allows Suppliers latitude in responding
to the needs of ISU. The features and requirements stated Technical Specifications represent ISU’s best assessment
of technical requirements. Suppliers should communicate with ISU to ensure they understand the equipment
requirements of the university.

3 EQUALITY OF EQUIPMENT
University will consider equipment that, in the opinion of University, is equal to or better in performance and quality
than the equipment specified in the Specifications.

All proposals/quotations are expected to meet or exceed the technical specifications below.

5 TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS
At a minimum, the equipment will have the following:
Capability of measuring mitochondrial respiration in whole tissues
Capability of measuring mitochondrial respiration in 6 or more samples simultaneously (this may be
accomplished through purchasing multiple units)
High throughput - included as an option if necessary
Options exist to upgrade and/or to expand the capability of the instrument for future projects.
Additional options MAY be included in your quote if they are clearly marked as OPTIONAL and the
costs are clearly itemized.
Describe how your unit meets or exceeds the specifications.
