Summary

Seminole County Solid Waste Management Division is seeking a competent contractor to provide skilled heavy equipment operators to ensure the continuation of operations during emergency staffing needs.

Background

Seminole County's Solid Waste Management Division operates an integrated solid waste management system that includes County owned, maintained and operated facilities as well as contracted services. The County owns, operates, and maintains an active slurry-wall landfill (and ancillary facilities), two closed landfills, and a transfer station (and ancillary facilities).

The County contracts for the collection of refuse and recyclables from more than 67,000 residential units in the unincorporated County and maintains interlocal agreements with the seven cities located within Seminole County, and two cities located within Orange County.

The Central Transfer Station (CTS), located at 1950 State Road 419, Longwood, FL 32750, includes the following:

  • 5-bay, cantilever-supported, tipping floor, approximately 26,000 S.F., with loadout tunnel containing five staggered hoppers and bypass lanes.
  • 3-bay Citizens Area tipping floor, approximately 16,000 S.F slab on grade with loadout.
  • Scalehouse with two inbound and one outbound scale.
  • Household hazardous waste facility.
  • Equipment maintenance facility.
  • Two-story office building.
  • Stormwater management system.
  • Other ancillary facilities.

The Osceola Road Solid Waste Management Facility, located at 1930 East Osceola Road, Geneva, FL 32732, includes the following:

  • 235-acre, slurry-walled, Class I Landfill with leachate collection and storage system.
  • 5-acre C&D recycling area.
  • Scalehouse with one inbound and one outbound scale.
  • 20-acre yard waste management area.
  • 50-acre borrow pit.
  • Waste tire management area.
  • 3-bay Citizens Area.
  • White goods management area.
  • Used Oil and battery collection center.
  • Landfill gas collection and control system with two candlestick flares.
  • Gas To Energy facility (privately owned and operated).
  • Equipment maintenance facility and equipment wash facility.
  • Administrative buildings.
  • Stormwater management system.
  • Other ancillary facilities.
