NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
Sealed separate bids will be accepted until 2:30 p.m., March 3, 2026 in the office of Lorain County
Commissioners, Purchasing Department, 226 Middle Ave, 4th Floor, Elyria, Ohio 44035 for the supply and
delivery of a two galvanized steel beam bridge superstructure and related materials to the site of
Hawley Road Bridges No. 0185 and No. 0279 in Huntington Township. Structure 0185 is to be 17 ft-6
inch overall with a 22 ft roadway width. Structure 0279 is to be 16 ft-6 inch overall with a 24 ft roadway
width. Each structure must include detailed plans and load ratings signed and sealed by a registered
professional engineer licensed in the State of Ohio. All interested parties are welcome to attend the bid
opening to be held immediately following the deadline in the Lorain County Commissioners’ Public
Hearing Room.
All materials must meet the specifications of the Ohio Department of Transportation. All contractors
involved with this project will, to an extent practicable use Ohio Products, materials, services and labor
in implementation of this project. Additionally, contractor compliance with the equal employment
opportunity requirements of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123 is required. Bidders must be listed
on the ODOT pre-qualified list for bridge construction level 2.
Specification and bid forms can be obtained at the Office of the Lorain County Engineer, 247 Hadaway
Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Bids
must be accompanied by a Bid Guaranty and Contract Bond in accordance with Section 153.54 of the
Ohio Revised Code. Bid security furnished in Bond form, shall be issued by a Surety Company or
Corporation licensed in the State of Ohio to provide said surety.
Each bid shall contain the full name or names of persons and company submitting the bid and shall be
enclosed in a sealed envelope and marked “Hawley Road Bridges No. 0185 and No. 0279”. A non-
refundable deposit of fifty dollars ($50.00) is required for each set of documents.
The Board of Lorain County Commissioners reserved the right to reject any and all bids and to waive
any informalities or irregularities if it is deemed in the best interest of Lorain County to do so. Any
interpretation, correction, or modification to the specifications desired shall be submitted via email to
Shaun Duffala (sduffala@loraincounty.us), Deputy Engineer and must be received at least four (4)
working days prior to the date of the bid opening.
