INTRODUCTION
200.1 Project work shall include all equipment, labor, materials, and incidentals necessary
to remove existing equipment that is to be replaced, install the new equipment, and
place the new equipment in fully operational, functional and warrantable service. All
equipment to be supplied shall be brand new current year model and not used,
remanufactured, or discontinued items.

201 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
201.1 Only contractors holding a valid pre-qualification certificate from the Tulsa
Metropolitan Utility Authority in Classification A or D, General Utility Constructions,
are eligible to bid on this project. No additional qualification information is required to
be submitted.
201.2 Only contractors that attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting will be allowed to bid on
this project.
201.3 SUMMARY OF BID ITEMS
The Basis of Award shall be twelve (12) bid items 1 through 12. The lowest
responsible bid shall be determined by the Base Bid amount for Bid Items 1 through
12.

203.200 All materials, labor, equipment and supervision required for the removal and
replacement of two (2) TWAS Sludge Pumps, valves, piping and appurtenances at the
RDT Building basement of the Haikey Creek WWTP per these specifications.
203.200.1 The project located at the Haikey Creek WWTP, consists of removing
and replacing two existing rotary lobe TWAS pumps, motors, valves,
piping and other appurtenances. All work shall be performed in
conformance with the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations
for installation, subsequent testing of the new units, and ensuring they
are in proper operation.
203.200.2 The pump equipment numbers to be replaced are identified in the plan
set.
203.200.3 Contractor shall be knowledgeable about and shall field verify all
elevations and dimensions of existing piping and equipment that in any
way bears on the removal of the existing equipment and installation of
the new equipment. Work shall be based on field measurements. The
Authority will make available the information it has pertaining to the
existing equipment.
203.200.4 Project work shall include all materials, equipment, labor, and
supervision, necessary to complete the project as specified herein,
including but not limited to any and all crane work, rigging, delivery and
complete installation of components to fully operational and warrantable
condition.
203.200.5 Contractor shall submit work plan acceptable to the Engineer describing
the duration and sequence of work. Plan shall be approved prior to
commencement of work. All work requiring flow stoppage or equipment
removed from service must be scheduled 7 days in advance with Plant
Superintendent. Contractor shall have the pumps and necessary
materials at the installation site prior to any flow stoppage. It is the
contractor's responsibility to prepare the system being worked on for
disassembly. This includes closing of upstream/downstream valves and
pumping down any reservoirs necessary. It is the responsibility of the

contractor to bypass any flow into the sump during the duration of the
construction. The Plant Superintendent will instruct the contractor on
where to direct bypassed flow.
203.200.6 Equipment and parts shall be manufactured by Borger, Netzsch,
Vogelsang, or approved equal. Pumps shall be piggy-back vertical, non-
clog, heavy duty rotary lobe pumps designed for thickened waste
activated sludge service complete and all other accessories required for
proper operation that meet the following specification:

Shaft Deflection Shall Not Exceed 0.0038 in.
Maximum RPM shall be 350 RPM
Minimum volumetric efficiency shall be 89 %
Reference plan drawing pump schedule for additional details and
information to coordinate.
203.200.7 General:
* The equipment covered by these Specifications shall be of
standard design, and of proven ability as manufactured by
reputable concerns having long experience in the production of
such equipment. The equipment furnished shall be designed,
constructed, and installed in accordance with the best practice
and methods, and shall operate satisfactorily when installed as
shown on the Drawings.

* All equipment shall be designed and built for 24-hour continuous
service at any and all points within the specified range of
operation, without overheating, without cavitation, and without
excessive vibration or strain. Pump design shall allow run dry for
an indefinite period of time, without damage to the pump, or its
internals.
* The pumping units required under this section shall be complete.
All parts shall be so designed and proportioned as to have liberal
strength, stability, and stiffness and to be especially adapted for
the service to be performed. Ample room for inspection, repairs
and adjustment shall be provided.
* Stainless steel nameplates giving the name of the manufacturer,
the rated capacity, head, speed and all other pertinent data shall
be attached to each pump, motor, and control panel.
* All working parts of the pumps and motors, such as bearings,
wearing rings, shaft, sleeves, etc., shall be standard dimensions
built to limit gauges or formed to templates, such tat parts will be
interchangeable between like units and such that the owner may,
at any time in the future, obtain replacement and repair parts for
those furnished in the original machines.
* The nameplate ratings of the motors shall not be exceeded, nor
shall the design service factor be reduced when the pump is
operating at any point on its characteristic curve at maximum
speed.
* Mechanical equipment, including drives and electric motors shall
be supplied and installed in accordance with applicable OSHA
regulations. Galvanized steel guards shall be installed on all
rotation assemblies. The noise level of motors, unless otherwise
noted, shall not exceed 85 dBA measured 3 meters from the unit
under free field conditions while operating on utility power.

* All lubrication fittings shall be brought to the outside of all
equipment so that they are readily accessible from the outside
without the necessity of removing covers, plates, housings, or
guards.
203.200.8 Casing: One-piece Blockcasing from Grey Cast iron EN-GJL-250
(GG25) with easily replaceable axial and radial casing liners. Axial
casing protection liners from Hard Metal. Radial casing protection liners
from Hard Metal (MIP(R)).
203.200.9 Rotor: Tri-lobe, screw form, baseparts from EN-GJS-400-15 (GGG40),
with pushed-on tips, easily replaceable.
* Rotor coating: NBR

203.200.10 Shaft Seal: Single-acting mechanical seals, type LW.

203.200.11 Motors: The motors shall be 40 HP 3 phase, 460 volt, 60 Hz, TEFC,
inverter duty rated for operation with variable drives. All motors shall be
built in accordance with latest NEMA, IEEE, ANSI and AFBMA standards
where applicable. Motors shall conform to all requirements stipulated in
the motor section of this specification.
203.200.12 Spare Parts:
* One (1) set of cartridge mechanical seals and O-rings for each
pump.
* One (1) Set of lobes and O-rings for each pump
