Gully 133 24/25 Timber Sale

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a per unit sale thinning of approximately 1,359 acres of 27-year-old planted slash pine in Tate's Hell State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Franklin County, Florida (see attached maps). Timber available for harvest within the sale boundary include two cut rows per three leave rows with tree selection from leave rows to a residual basal area of 60-70 square feet per acre.  Timber to be removed from the leave rows includes diseased, deformed, defective, forked, and suppressed trees as well as a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the target basal area. Logging operations require a tracked feller-buncher or one with dual tires to minimize rutting unless modified by Forester-in-Charge. Low ground pressure, wide tires or dual tires are required on skidding equipment. Matting is necessary on heavily used skid trails. The estimated harvest volume on this sale is: 41,285 tons of pine pulpwood, 50,805 tons of pine chip-n-saw, and 6,903 tons of pine sawtimber.  Sale boundaries are roads, wetlands, or obvious timber type changes.
