Description:

Scope of Work
This project shall correct an erosion problem caused by a failed concrete storm pipe located inside of Baywoods Gulley. Currently, water does not flow through the pipes and westmost inlet box as designed. Bizarrely, there is a wide crack that runs the length of the pipe into the ditch bottom inlet, compromising the pipe, and potentially creating an unstable void under the pipe. The growth of this void may exacerbate the slope erosion by sucking sand into the pipe and depositing it downstream.
Phase 1 includes determination of the volume of fill material needed to fill in the void and excavated pipe section.
This project shall remove the failed pipe, stabilize the subgrade in the pipe area, and stop the slope from eroding further.
The length of pipe from the easternmost manhole located beside the community center’s baseball field to the ditch bottom inlet shall be demolished, the excavated void filled and compacted, and the exposed earth lined with pinned, non-woven filter fabric and #57 stone. This will result in a V-shaped depression with fill material brought up to the elevation necessary to accommodate a new pipe and stabilized side slopes.
The contractor shall place stone at the site entrance to stabilize the ground and prevent contamination outside the site entrance.
A full erosion control plan to FDEP standards shall be furnished by the contractor.
