GSE Moving and Decommissioning Services
Description:

The University at Buffalo is seeking the services of a qualified Commercial Moving company to manage and execute a comprehensive relocation project for the Graduate School of Education (GSE). This project involves relocating approximately 145 GSE faculty and staff from Baldy Hall, located on UB’s North Campus, to Foster Hall on the South Campus. In addition to the main relocation effort, the mover will be responsible for transferring 21 additional personnel from Baldy Hall to Kimball Hall, also located on the South Campus. The move will encompass not only office contents but also items from classrooms, meeting rooms, and ancillary spaces, including furniture, equipment, and instructional materials.

The University is also bidding out for the decommissioning (recycling, reuse, or disposal) of surplus furniture, and ancillary items from the vacated areas in Baldy Hall. The moving contractor may be required to assist in the staging or identification of these items to facilitate their removal. The University at Buffalo is a national leader in advancing sustainability. The core of this strategy is the university’s climate action plan, a roadmap of innovative, engaging and digestible steps the university is taking to increase climate action across the institution. To align with our sustainability goals, the awarded bidder will ensure, if possible, that items marked for decommissioning shall be recycled or reused.

Throughout the project, the selected mover will work in close coordination with University personnel to develop and follow a detailed moving schedule that minimizes disruption to ongoing academic and administrative activities. The mover will be expected to provide all necessary labor, supervision, transportation, and equipment, and must adhere to all University safety, security, and access protocols. Proper precautions must be taken to protect University property during the relocation, including the use of appropriate packing materials and floor or wall protection.
