Summary:
The contract requires a landscaping vendor to provide weekly lawn and grounds maintenance at the Alabama Supercomputer Center, including mowing, trimming, edging, weed control, flower-bed maintenance, blowing/cleanup, tree and shrub trimming, fertilization, seasonal flowers, and mulching. Bi-annual bush hogging is also required along the rear property line. The vendor must provide all equipment and supplies and attend a mandatory site visit before bidding .

Specification for Grounds Maintenance Alabama Supercomputer Authority

Monthly charges are to be based on a four-week month to balance services delayed or missed due to inclement weather. All charges to be paid in arrears.

Vendor to provide all necessary equipment and supplies.

Service as follows:    October 1 st , 2026, through September 30 th , 2027

Weekly As needed

  1. Mow grass -Area included from front of building to Discovery Drive, both sides of the Alabama Supercomputer Center to property line, and from back of the Center to property line.
- NO zero-tum mowers.
  1. Maintain all flower beds, Including the kidney shaped flower bed at the front of the property near Discovery Drive and the flower bed between main entrance and the generators. This includes adding mulch, trimmings, and weeding.
  2. Weed all beds.
  3. String trim weeds and grasses. Liquid chemical weed killers (e.g. Roundup, Cornerstone, Eraser) are not to be used in lieu of string trimming around the building, light standards, transformers, etc. Liquid chemical weed killers may be used in the parking lot areas only.
  4. Power blow/vacuum - Clean up sidewalks, front entrance, parking lot, dumpster, generator and HVAC equipment pads, and anywhere that requires cleanup or removal of debris (e.g. leaves, trash) on EACH visit.
  5. Trim all trees and shrubs as needed to maintain a neat appearance.
  6. Edge all curbs, sidewalks and any other areas that require edging.
  7. Eliminate any errant grasses and/or weeds growing through cracks or crevices in the parking lot area
  8. Establish a year-round fertilization and weed control program for all turf areas extending from Discovery Drive to 25' behind the Alabama Supercomputer Center. Vendor will have a soil, grass and weed analysis performed and will apply lime, fertilizer and weed control to achieve a green, healthy lawn. Vendor will provide the Authority with a copy of the test results and outline of the lawn care program required to resolve any deficiencies. There should be a minimum of six (6) treatments/applications per year. Subcontracting of chemical weed control and fertilization is permitted.
  9. Plant seasonal flowers at the ASA sign and around the main entrance of the building in spring and fall.
  10. Mulch around trees, shrubs and beds with pine bark nuggets to a depth of 3-4" in early spring.

Bi-Annually as needed
Provide bush hogging services along the rear property line, covering an estimated area of approximately 30 feet by 125 yards (11,250 square feet). The area to be cleared runs adjacent to the rear fence boundary of the property.
