Project Description: Playgrounds are an essential element of Chatham County’s quality of life. Greenbriar was established in 1949 by members of Gamma Sigma Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as an orphanage for African American children in Savannah and surrounding areas. Chatham County and Greenbriar Children’s Center entered into an agreement to improve facilities and services with focus on quality early childhood programming. The Greenbriar campus is located at 3709 Hopkins Street, Savannah, Geogia 31405.
