Commodity or Service Required: Purchase of Genfare Smart Card Bus Passes Description: Lee County Transit seeks to execute a single-source procurement for smart card bus passes from Genfare, LLC. The smart cards come in a variety of preprogrammed prices that are compatible with the fare collection system for our fixed-route buses. In addition, we also purchase a smart card that can be "loaded" with funds by the customer at our transfer stations and main office, through vending machines, and via a mobile app. Intended Single Source: Genfare, LLC Justification for Single Source Acquisition: Genfare, LLC is the single-source supplier of the equipment in place at Lee County Transit and its related maintenance parts/media/services. The fare collection system currently in place in Lee County Transit is a Genfare Automatic Fare Collection System. Using the same vendor to procure Smart Card Media ensures the media will be compatible with the existing fare collection system and fare structure. Using a different vendor to provide media could lead to issues relating to understanding how the system is configured and could lead to increased times and standstills in different troubleshooting efforts if the procured media is not encoded with the correct formats or made from the proper material to interact with the fare collection equipment. Recommended Procurement Approach: For the reason(s) stated above, Lee County Procurement Management intends to utilize the Single-Source Procurement method to purchase from Genfare, LLC to supply the above. Respond to: If your firm feels they have the ability to supply the above, please contact Kevin Walker, Lee County Procurement Management at KWalker2@leegov.com for review. |
