Overview

Summary

The contractor shall purchase all equipment and install a Waste Gas Burner for the Anaerobic Digester, to replace the existing waste gas burner for the waste gas produced by the anaerobic sludge digestor. Specifications for the waste gas burner equipment and installation is attached as Attachment A: Specification Section 46 73 35 – Digester Gas Equipment.

Background

Excess digester gas is flared off with the gas burner so that methane, a powerful greenhouse gas which is the largest component in the digester gas, is combusted instead of released to the atmosphere. This equipment must meet strict safety requirements so that there is no risk of accidents with the combustion of the biogas.
