Summary

SPECIFICATIONS

The Bridgeton Board of Education is seeking competitive bids from qualified contractors to provide ground maintenance services for the new soccer/field hockey fields at the Bridgeton High School. This is an additional contract needed for the new soccer/field hockey fields added that were not included in the Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping contract.

The Contractor shall be responsible all equipment, materials and labor required to maintain the grounds at the soccer fields at a consistent professional level.

Mileage and travel time must be factored into the proposal, the district will not reimburse Contractor additional fees for mileage/travel.

Scope of Work

The Contractor shall provide maintenance to all areas inside the fenced soccer areas at the back of the Bridgeton High School. Blue grass sod has been installed on the soccer fields. Services provided shall include, but shall not be limited to the following:

  1. Cutting of Blue Grass Sod several times per week during the playing season. It is approximately 45 cuts. The trimmings from the cuts will be bagged and removed.
  2. The grass shall be maintained at 1” for playing.
  3. Blue Grass Sod requires a fungal spray to be treated at least eight (8) times during the months of July - September. The fungal spray should be rotated to reduce the fungus getting immune to the treatment.
  4. Fertilizer applications shall be completed approximately eleven (11) times. Seven (7) of applications shall include 10-10-10 plus micronutrients. One (1) fall/winter applications of 30-30-30 plus 50% organic. One (1) treatment of Confront or an equivalent weed killer. Two (2) applications of Dimension or equivalent crabgrass preventer. One (1) application Diazinon or equivalent grub preventor. One (1) application of Quinclorac or equivalent to prevent crabgrass. One (1) application of Celero or equivalent sedge grass eliminator.
  5. Flexibility and cooperation on the part of the contractor shall be required in light of athletic activities, weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances. The Contractor will be given written confirmation of any schedule changes.
  6. Should the Contractor fail to perform any activity required under the contract, the District may retain the services of any grounds contractor to complete the service and deduct the required payment from the monthly amount due the Contractor

Contractor Qualifications

  1. Services shall be performed by a contractor who is regularly engaged in the lawn and landscape maintenance business. The contractor shall provide the district the name and cell phone number of a direct contact for their office. In addition, a direct cell phone number for the site supervisor shall be provided to district and he/she shall be on site with the crew during service.
  2. The contractor shall use trained service personnel directly employed and supervised by the contractor’s staff. MSDS data sheets shall be provided for all chemicals used on district property. The contractor’s staff shall notify the Custodian and Grounds Supervisor at least seven (7) days prior to an insecticide treatment to verify posting requirements, boundary concerns and all MSDS sheets.
