Full-Time Recreation Director

The City of Garfield is seeking a full-time Recreation Director whose duties are, but not limited to:

• Plan, promote, organize, and administer a comprehensive recreation service for the community.
• Study community recreation needs and develop short-term and long-term plans to meet these needs.
• Establish and maintain cooperative planning and working relationships with other local community agencies and interested individuals.
• Stimulate public interest in recreation activities.
• Organize and oversee recreational programs and activities for an assigned group.
• Assist with activity planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Coordinate or assist with coordinating of City events.
• Other related work as required.

Minimum five years of experience required in recreation work involving planning, promoting, organizing, and/or directing a recreation service.  Appointees will be required to possess a valid NJ driver's license. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) is preferred and/or will be a requirement upon hire.
