Overview
Summary

The Frost Park Sport Court Improvement Project will allow the City to revamp existing courts and add new amenities to Frost Park, located at 300 NE 2nd St Dania Beach, FL 33004. The area currently contains two (2) dedicated tennis courts, one (1) additional tennis / temporary pickleball court, one (1) narrow basketball court and one (1) handball court. The City's goal for this project is to maximize the existing space and, once the project is completed, to have two (2) dedicated tennis courts, six (6) dedicated pickleball courts and one (1) basketball court.

The expectations of the award proposer is to resurface the area to include two dedicated tennis courts, six dedicated pickleball courts and one dedicated basketball court, if allocated space permits. Dimensions can be configured to make all desired courts fit. Along with the resurfacing of the courts, the awarded proposer shall furnish and install tennis nets & posts, pickleball nets & posts and a set of basketball goals. The City will also provide specifications of nets, posts and basketball goals to be used for the courts. The awarded proposer will also be responsible for the demolition of existing handball wall, nets, posts and basketball goals. Scope of work will also include asphalt repairs, where needed, prior to the resurfacing of courts and fencing improvements to enhance play.

Background

This project will be the first fully dedicated pickleball courts in the City of Dania Beach. There are currently temporary pickleball courts in place which are set up within tennis courts, and that is not ideal. There are sometimes several patrons trying to play on the court at the same time, which leads to conflict. Aside from adding permeant pickleball courts this project will also provide enhancement to our current tennis and basketball courts. One of the challenges of this project is that the courts are highly used. We hope to get it done in a phased approach, if possible, to allow usage of some courts while others are down. If this is not feasible, we will hope to move expeditiously during the time of the project.
