Franklin 2026 Fiber & Product Supply 25/26 Timber Sale

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This sale is a multi-stand first thinning of 25-46-year-old planted pine from Tate's Hell State Forest (SFI Certified Forest Certificate Number BVC-SFIFM-700005) in Franklin and Liberty Counties, Florida (see attached maps). The successful bidder will be required to harvest 70,000 tons of timber per year from the designated harvest areas during this three-year agreement. There are approximately 5,372 acres designated for harvest. Stands will be thinned by a take two rows, leave three rows approach with tree selection from leave rows to a residual basal area of 50-60 square feet per acre. Timber to be removed from the leave rows include diseased, deformed, suppressed, and forked trees first; then a portion of the intermediate and co-dominate trees to reach the target basal area. The harvest prescription and/or target basal area can be adjusted by the Forester-in-Charge as needed. Estimated volumes for the sale are as follows: 195,575 tons of pine pulpwood, 114,593 tons of pine chip-n-saw, and 54,682 tons of pine sawtimber.
