Notes:
On behalf of the Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR), Iowa State
University is requesting bids for up to four (4) benchtop fermenters. These
units will be used for fermentation optimization work done at CCUR.
Suppliers should read all materials carefully and note the due date.
Suppliers must direct all questions and comments in reference to this RFP to the
University Representative using the QUESTIONS tab via this electronic bid system.

1 INTENDED PURPOSE AND APPLICATION / SCOPE OF WORK
The 4 benchtop fermenters described in this bid will used for fermentation optimization work that will
be conducted at Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR).

2 EVALUATION CRITERIA
The evaluation criteria utilized for this RFP may be based upon, but not limited to the following criteria:
Total cost to ISU
Lead time
Ability to meet or exceed specifications
Warranty/Customer Service
ISU reserves the right to waive minor differences in the stated specifications, if an offered system is found to be
substantially compliant, and its’ purchase would be in the University’s best interest.
Proposal Process and Ev aluation. The proposal process employed by ISU allows Suppliers latitude in responding
to the needs of ISU. The features and requirements stated Technical Specifications represent ISU’s best assessment
of technical requirements. Suppliers should communicate with ISU to ensure they understand the equipment
requirements of the university.

3 EQUALITY OF EQUIPMENT
University will consider equipment that, in the opinion of University, is equal to or better in performance and quality
than the equipment specified in the Specifications.

4 BENCHTOP FERMENTERS
All proposals/quotations are expected to meet or exceed the technical specifications below.
5 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The equipment included in your offer is expected to meet the following specifications:
4 parallel benchtop fermentation systems with identical setup and features.
each unit should have a working volume of around 5 liters and a vessel volume of 7-8 L
Able to control the parameters of temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, agitation, pressure, foaming (liquid
level), air flow rate and oxygen flow rate
Dissolved Oxygen control is accomplished through agitation, air flow, pressure, and oxygen supply through
cascade function.
