Description:

The Town of Amherst invites sealed bids for the purpose of providing commercial moving services for the New Fort River Elementary School project. Invitation for Bids may be obtained online at www.amherstma.gov/bids .

A mandatory project walk-thru is planned for March 10, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Fort River Elementary School – 70 S East Street, Amherst, MA.

Bids shall be submitted no later than 2:00 pm on March 25, 2026, to the Town of Amherst’s Accountant’s Office where the

bids will be publicly opened and recorded at that time.

The Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, and to waive informalities, when at its sole discretion is deemed to be in the best interests of the Town and to the extent permitted by law.

Qualifications:

1.        General Bidders must have at least five (5) years of experience and a proven track record of high-quality work on similar projects.
2.        Mover must have experienced handlers of library books, musical instruments and technology with demonstrated knowledge of recognized standards for the handling, wrapping, packing, and moving of such. This includes the proper matching of packing materials and the ability to construct custom-fitted boxes or crates when necessary.
3.        Similar Projects List: The Moving Company shall provide a list of projects of comparable or greater scope and size that their company has performed. To be considered comparable, as a minimum, a project must have been for a 150 student or larger public or private school or university that moved from one location to another and included furnishing and moving crates and temporary shelving as well as temporary containers for musical instruments and other items that did not fit in standard crates. A minimum of three comparable projects shall be required to meet the minimum qualifications requirements of this IFB. For each listed project, include the name and location of the project, the name or organization title of the Owner, and the name and telephone number of an Owner or Owner’s representative.
4.        References: Provide at least three (3) references for projects of similar scope and size to this IFB and at least (3) references for proposed project lead/point of contact or primary team member. Reference can be Owners, Owner’s Project Managers, Designers, Contractors; provide contact information for those who can best speak to your performance on a given project. Proposer shall not list the Town of Amherst as a reference.
5.        The Moving Company shall be licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The moving company and its personnel shall maintain in good standing the certifications, licensing and registrations required by the various agencies noted herein and in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the duration of the project. Copies of these licenses and certifications shall be provided.
6.        The resumes and project experience of its Project Supervisor(s) designated for assignment on this project shall be provided along with copies of all applicable licenses.

A mandatory project walk-thru is planned for Tuesday March 10, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Fort River Elementary School – 70 S East Street, Amherst, MA. All bidders are required to attend.
