The overall project objective is to remediate the hiking trail in the Center of Alberta Natural Area to the geographic center of Alberta. Refurbishment of the southern hiking trail will enhance safety for the public, while reducing if not eliminating the environmental degradation currently occurring.
This will be accomplished by building a well-marked, safe trail, including boardwalks through sensitive areas and wetlands.
• To improve wayfinding to the hiking trail so that it is readily evident as to where it is leading to.
• To improve the trail surface and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for the public.
• To acquire the services of a competent third-party contractor to construct light and heavy- duty boardwalks as per design specifications, resurface the trail bed with mulch, supply and install signposts, and relocate the existing outhouse (garden throne) near the cairn site (approximately 300 meters away).
• Supply and Install boardwalks placed in the locations as specified by the Government of Alberta (GOA), as well as in the sequence prescribed in this RFQ.
• To ensure that the appropriately sized equipment is used to accomplish this trail refurbishment so as not to damage the boardwalks being installed. Mobile equipment must have low ground pressure, usually associated with rubber, non-cleated tracked skid steer or similar equipment.
• Some materials will be supplied by the GOA to expedite the trail refurbishment these will be wood mulch, geo-textile, heavy duty board walk joining plates, wooden one hole outhouse, and picnic tables.
The estimated contract period will be 7 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2025/06/20.
