INTENT AND SCOPE
It is the intent of this term contract to have inspections/maintenance for all City of Kalamazoo services listed in this document on a regularly scheduled basis for the unit prices as stated on the Bid and Award page for the City of Kalamazoo.
As part of this contract Public Safety’s vehicles with extinguishers will be serviced and maintained. This will include (66) patrol vehicles that carry 5 # ABC extinguishers (although sometimes they grab the wrong one and end up with a 10# ABC). Three (3) Rescue vehicles with 5# ABC extinguishers. Thirteen (13) Fire Apparatuses that carry 20# CO2 and 20# ABC (all stored pressure- not cartridge operated). Two (2) Class K extinguishers in inventory and one (1) 5-gallon bucket of Class D powder on one of the apparatuses.
Public safety goes through, on average, about 20 ABC extinguishers a month, mostly 5#. There is an exchange program set up at Station #4/#5 for these. These extinguishers will need to be exchanged or filled on site, as needed.
The City reserves the right to split award by sections or award on an aggregate basis all items to one vendor, whichever is in the best interest of the City.
CONTRACT PERIOD AND EXTENSIONS
The term contract shall be in effect for a basic one (1) year period commencing on or about September 1, 2025, and expiring December 31, 2026, subject to availability of funds. The City may opt to extend this contract for up to four (1) one-year periods. All extensions shall be upon mutual agreement of both parties with all provisions of the original contract or any addenda and extensions remaining in full force and effect.
