Technical Specifications - Filtration Components and associated items
1. General Requirements
The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is soliciting sealed bids from qualified vendors for the
procurement of filtration components and associated items.
All equipment and materials shall be new, unused, and of current production. Refurbished or
prototype items will not be accepted.

The specifications referenced herein establish minimum acceptable standards for quality and
performance. Products offered shall meet or exceed all applicable manufacturer specifications.
Where specific manufacturer names, model numbers, or product identifiers are referenced, they are
intended to establish a minimum standard of quality, performance, and compatibility.
Equivalent products ("or equal") may be proposed; however, the burden of proof rests solely with
the bidder to demonstrate that the proposed product meets or exceeds all specified requirements.
To be considered for evaluation, bids proposing equivalent products must include:
* Complete technical specifications and product data sheets
* Detailed side-by-side comparison to the specified product
* Documentation of materials of construction, pressure ratings, and performance
characteristics
* Confirmation of dimensional and connection compatibility with existing or specified systems
* Any installation or operational differences
Failure to provide sufficient supporting documentation may result in the proposed alternate being deemed
non-responsive.
The University of Southern Mississippi reserves the right to determine equivalency based on, but not
limited to:
* Performance and operational capability
* Durability and material quality
* Compatibility with existing systems and components
* Maintenance requirements and lifecycle considerations
Substitutions that, in the University's judgment, introduce operational risk, reduce performance, or require
system modification may be rejected.
2.Intended Application
These filtration components will be used in support of aquaculture systems and laboratory filtration
processes. Products must be suitable for continuous use in environments requiring reliable particulate
removal and system compatibility.
3A. Polypropylene Bag Filter Vessel (Quantity: 52 Each)
Product Number: PLPB-02-50-F-C-SS (or approved equal)
Minimum Technical Specifications:
* Polypropylene bag filter vessel, Size #2 configuration
* Clamp closure design
* Housing material: PPR (Polypropylene Random Copolymer)
* Gasket/Seal material: EPDM
* Rated for 120 PSI maximum operating pressure
* Design pressure: 8 bar (116 psi)
Filter Configuration:
* Designed to accommodate one (1) Size #2 filter bag
* Filter bag dimensions: approximately 7-inch diameter x 32-inch length
Connections and Flow Characteristics:
* Inlet/Outlet: DN50 ANSI flanged connections (2-inch equivalent)
* Flow direction: Side inlet / side outlet
* Maximum operating flow capacity: 40 m3/hr (approximately 176 GPM)
Operating Conditions:
* Maximum operating temperature: 60 degreesC (140 degreesF)
* Suitable for use in liquid filtration applications requiring corrosion-resistant materials
Additional Requirements:
* Units shall be fully assembled where applicable
* Packaged: One (1) unit per carton
* Designed for compatibility with specified filter bags and adapters
3B. Pressure Relief Valve with Gauge Assembly (Quantity: 52 Each)
