Executive Search Firm RFQ 2024
SCOPE OF WORK
The Saint Louis Zoo (“Zoo”) is seeking qualifications from professional executive search firms to
assist with future, nationwide (and in some instances, international) executive level searches to
establish a pre-approved preferred vendor list for future executive searches. The Zoo intends to vet
and establish a list of 2-3 pre-approved executive search firms to utilize as various executive-level
positions arise. The Zoo is seeking a variety of search firms displaying various areas of expertise,
industry knowledge and different dynamic teams of recruiters. The Zoo may elect to utilize selected
search firms for future searches as they arise or the Zoo may elect to utilize a different search firm
depending on the circumstances of the search.
I. Services Required: Duties in the search process may include, but are not limited to:
A. Work with the Zoo’s Human Resources Team and Hiring Manager to understand the
requirements of the position, goals and needs of the Zoo;
B. Develop a job description and job announcement to market the position, define the
requirements and qualifications of the position;
C. Conduct detailed outreach, recruitment, interview and selection strategies to attract
a highly qualified and diverse candidate pool;
D. Recruit and screen potential qualified candidates;
E. Present a vetted and qualified slate of candidates for Zoo interviews;
F. Prepare all logistics for Zoo interviews;
G. Prepare written interview materials and candidate summaries;
H. Conduct all necessary due diligence on candidates, including thorough background
checks, educational verification and reference checks on the finalist candidate(s);
I. Work with the Zoo to negotiate an offer of employment (and contract, if required);
J. Notify unsuccessful candidates.
K. The search firm may be required to participate in various Zoo meetings, including
board and committee meetings to provide status reports on the search process.
II. Minimum Qualifications:
A. Responding firms must have at least five years of experience conducting executive
searches;
B. Knowledge and expertise working with zoos, aquariums, nonprofit organizations, or
quasi-governmental entities is preferred;
C. Demonstrated experience with searches involving all types of executive-level
positions, including CEO’s, COO’s, CFO’s, Chief Fundraising Officers, etc., is required.
D. Responding firms must not have any conflicts of interests with the Zoo, its staff, its
officers and board members or with anyone affiliated with the Zoo;

E. All responding firms must meet the highest standards of professional competence
and ethics;
F. Firms headquartered in, or with a regional presence in St. Louis preferred, but not
required.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Submittals shall be limited to ten (10) pages (excluding cover letter, front and back covers,
certifications and M/WBE Utilization Statement) And provided in the following order. Submittals
exceeding the maximum number of pages will be rejected.
Provide the following information in the sequence listed below:
1. Cover letter- statement/summary of qualifications, general information about the company’s
experience and capabilities
2. Company organization, resumes of proposed project team organization & qualifications
including who would be the primary Zoo contact(s)
3. Three (3) references, including names and telephone numbers of current and previous clients
4. Fee structure
5. WBE/MBE/DBE status with certification (if applicable).
CONSULTANT SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Qualifications (30 points)
2. Pricing (20 points)
3. Previous experience on similar types of work (15 points)
4. Ability to start (15 points)
5. References (10 points)
6. Supplier Diversity Participation (5 points)
7. Tax Base/Focus Geography (5 points)
The short-listed consultants will be asked to participate in an interview process. The interviews will
be coordinated with the short-listed consultants upon selection.

All questions must be received by April 3, 2024 for issuing of addendums. All emailed questions

and answers will be shared with all responders. The source of the questions will remain
anonymous. Addendums will be placed on the Zoo website as they become available:

and not binding on the Zoo.

Submission of qualifications will be accepted on or before 3:00 p.m. CST on April 10, 2024. Only

Any submitted qualifications shall remain valid and subject to acceptance for ninety (90) days after
the proposal due date
NOTE: Failure to include a completed Supplier Diversity Utilization and Assurance Statement will
result in participation recorded as NONRESPONSIVE/ DISQUALIFIED at submission opening.
