The Alberta Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Watercraft Inspection, Decontamination, K9 Program (WIDK9) is a specialized program aimed to prevent AIS, specifically zebra, quagga and golden mussels, from entering Alberta via transport on watercraft. Each year the WIDK9 program hires a large complement of seasonal staff who are the “boots on the ground” at all watercraft inspection stations throughout the province. These the seasonal staff the program hires include up to 62 (sixty-two) Watercraft Inspectors, 8 (eight) Watercraft Inspection Site Leads and 4 (four) temporary salary or wage Decontamination Technician/Supervisors.
The goal of developing these online training modules is to transition learning material and expert knowledge from within our team into self paced online adult learning courses.
