Title: Elective Science Textbook Adoption
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 3/23/2026
Due Date: 4/17/2026
Through this Request for Proposal (RFP), the Division is seeking to establish a seven (7) year term contract through competitive negotiations with one (1) or more qualified vendors. Chesapeake Public Schools reserves the right to negotiate services and prices with the successful textbook suppliers. The Code of Virginia, Section 22.1-238, defines "textbooks" as "print or electronic media for student use that serve as the primary curriculum basis for grade-level subject or course". Ancillary materials include, but are not limited to, print or electronic documents or applications that assist a teacher with student assessment, lesson planning, student enrichment, remediation, or professional development. Vendors should not feel bound by this list and are encouraged to present any and all resources that are available for student and teacher support from the proposed resources.
Chesapeake Public Schools, including the School Board (hereafter known as the District) seeks proposals from qualified, licensed, and insured firms to provide science textbooks, lab books, and other related ancillary materials and resources for our high schools to support the Division's science curriculum department. The materials must align with the most current Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) standards.
Through this Request for Proposal (RFP), the District is seeking to identify one or more vendors who can most fully meet the needs of the District as specified in this document and any associated attachments.
Based on enrollment, the District is the seventh largest school district in Virginia. With nearly 40,000 students and 6,000 employees in 56 schools and centers, the District is committed to providing excellence in education for the children of Chesapeake.
The Chesapeake Public School System is an equal educational opportunity school system. The School Board of the City of Chesapeake also adheres to the principles of equal opportunity in employment and, therefore, prohibits discrimination in terms and conditions of employment on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, color, religion, age, or disability.
